Damselfly reveals the delicacy of a damselfly at close range as it rests upon a flower, bringing the intricate structure of the insect into balance with the softer natural forms around it. Rooted in macro wildlife and botanical photography, the image explores fine detail, natural pattern and the fragile relationship between insect and flower.
The damselfly’s slender body and transparent wings give the photograph much of its precision, while the flower provides contrast, colour and a natural setting. The close viewpoint turns a fleeting encounter into a more considered study of texture, form and structure. At 30 x 30 centimetres, the square format concentrates the composition and encourages close viewing, allowing the finer details of both insect and flower to remain central to the work.
Part of the Curated Square Collection
Damselfly forms part of the Baguley Curated Square Collection — a considered selection of nature-led fine-art photographs chosen specifically for their balance, intimacy and visual strength within the square format.
Each photograph has its own distinct character while sharing the same contemporary proportions, allowing Damselfly to stand confidently on its own or sit naturally alongside other works from the collection.
