Sunrise captures the first light of morning along the coast south of Sydney, as warm amber light begins to emerge through the cooler blue tones of the early sky. Soft reflections and gradual tonal transitions give the scene a quiet, atmospheric quality. Rooted in Australian coastal landscape and seascape photography, the image explores changing light, open space and the calm atmosphere of the shoreline at dawn.
The photograph was made the morning after an unexpected coastal walk. Against the physical exhaustion of the previous day, the stillness and fresh light of sunrise created a striking sense of renewal.
