Colourful Sunrise captures the first light of an early summer morning at Weymouth Beach, as warm amber tones emerge beneath the cooler blue sky and spread across the shoreline in reflected colour. Rooted in coastal landscape and seascape photography, the image explores the changing light, atmosphere and colour of the Dorset coast at dawn.
Sweeping cloud formations lead the eye across the scene, while the contrast between cool blues, warmer sunrise tones and reflected light gives the photograph its distinctive balance. At 70 × 120 cm, the larger scale gives the cloud structure, shoreline detail and subtle colour transitions greater definition and presence, while preserving the expansive character of the original composition with minimal cropping.
