Butterfly captures a poised moment as the insect rests on a white flower, bringing the fine structure of its wings into contrast with the soft simplicity of the bloom beneath it. Rooted in macro wildlife and botanical photography, the image explores delicate natural form, texture and the quiet relationship between insect and flower.
The butterfly’s intricate wing detail and the clean simplicity of the white flower give the photograph its visual clarity, while subtle tonal variation and natural texture create a composition that feels balanced, intimate and closely observed. At 30 x 30 centimetres, the square format brings subject and setting together without crowding the image, encouraging close viewing of the finer detail within both butterfly and flower.
Part of the Curated Square Collection
Butterfly forms part of the Baguley Curated Square Collection — a considered selection of nature-led fine-art photographs chosen specifically for their balance, intimacy and visual strength within the square format.
Each photograph has its own distinct character while sharing the same contemporary proportions, allowing Butterfly to stand confidently on its own or sit naturally alongside other works from the collection.
